Po-mode should automagically control line lengths (according to gedit's setting) and quotes. If that's done, typing Return should give \n too.

Some idea :
We could configure a list of special/common error words. Every times those words are in the translated string, they would be highlighted in red for example.

Could you replace the menu by a kind of *floating* toolbar ? I would be more easy to use (shortcuts just don't work because of the various translation of the original gedit shortcuts).

I'm a GNOME translator and gave this plugin a try. The current features are nice, but the shortcuts may collide with menu accelerator keys.
In example, Alt+P should browse to the next message, but opens the _Pesquisar (_Search) menu.
Please, either avoid pure Alt+letter shortcuts, or make them customizable.
