Hi-
The plugin installed fine but when I try to run a forma I get an Operation not Enabled error. No error in the log.
Any thoughts?

Sorry, I forgot to say:
OS: Windows 7
Eclipse: eclipse-jee-galileo-SR1-win32
I also have C/C++ and PHP plugins installed.

Note that at any time, I can right-click my HTML editor window and choose HTML Tidy > Format. But the icons and the (essential!) CTRL-SHIFT-F don't work.

I am also having the same problem.
If I select an HTML file in the navigator view, the HTMLTidy buttons/menu are enabled and work as expected.
However, if I am editing an HTML file, they are disabled. Note that when starting Eclipse afresh, the buttons are enabled when editing HTML, but when I click one it says "This function is not enabled".
Is this intentional?.

I just received the exact same symptom on a Windows XP machine, Eclipse Version: 3.4.1
Build id: M20080911-1700. I have numerous errors in the log file
!ENTRY org.eclipse.jface 4 0 2009-12-09 15:38:23.638
!MESSAGE Undefined context while filtering dialog/window contexts
!STACK 0
org.eclipse.core.commands.common.NotDefinedException: Cannot get the parent identifier from an undefined context...

I am sorry, it has nothing to do with Tidy. There was another plugin that somehow ran at the same time as Tidy which messed up the entities. After uninstalling that Tidy worked as supposed.
You can close this non-bug.

Hello Pierre,
I just did an install from scratch, then tried to activate HTMLTidy -> Format from the menu.
Unfortunately no errors we generated in the workspace log file.

Some similar issues have been reported by the past (see ID 1811153 & 1706856), but I couldn't reproduce them. Since I don't have OS X Snow Leopard, I won't be able to reproduce this one either.
Do you have Eclipse error logs for this issue?.

I cannot install eclipse 3,5 on Mac OS X 10.4 so I won't be able to reproduce this bug unless this is reproducible on older eclipse versions.
What kind of "strange output" is it?.

In eclipse 3.5 after formatting things like © or ᪄ etc. are converted into strange output.
