The Doszip Commander is an LFN-aware TUI file manager (NC clone) with built-in Zip and UnZip for DOS and Windows. The program is written in assembly and compiles using the Doszip Macro Assembler, a modified version of JWasm v2.12.
It comes with a built-in editor including syntax highlighting for all file types, automatic indentation, mouse and clipboard support. The Windows version has command integration for external tools and macros, and the ability to open a large number of files. The file search and compare utilities integrates easy access to edit and view.
In addition to the standard functions there is also the ability to scan for duplicate (or different) files between drives and subdirectories, and create batch files to handle the result.
Plugins are available to handle most archives directly in the panels. The 7ZA.EXE plugin handles 7Z, GZ, BC2, CAB, XZ, TAR, and LZMA. There is also a packer interface to compress and decompress using other programs.
My suggestions about packers: 1. RAR-integration(unpack only) is very important, like Total Commander/Win, you can find many src cods for unrar in web. 2. ARJ is almost useless today. 3. 7za.exe can be replaced by 7zDec.exe for unpack only, it's size only 65k. Also open source by the author.
Many THX for the excellent work!!! Because it's very compackt size, it is very usefull for integration on DOS bootdisks. I think it is also the main application area of this utility, other than in the windows envirement(we do have total commander). So my suggestion is make the most key combinations(short cuts) paralell to the NC5, like other NC-clone did(Dos Navigator/VC etc). Other suggestions about packers will be posted seperately.
Excellent tool; excellent support
