Talked to sorear; closing. The idea is not bad, it is just a nice form of wishful thinking.

Closing, see http://crawl.develz.org/wiki/doku.php?id=dcss:brainstorm:item:misc
I was not able to get Eronarn's ideas into the shape of that wiki so I left them out. Feel free to move them, too.

I see two immediate benefits to the client/server model:
1. bots can play crawl easily.
2. players could play Crawl online with tiles.
However, anyone sufficiently motivated to write a crawl bot would probably be undeterred by the code's current state. As for 2, something similar has already been implemented for Nethack at http://www.jwhitham.org.uk/tilehack/. I'm not familiar with that project...

The summary pretty much says it all. There was a shaft trap generated on Lair:8 in my most recent SpEn game. Stepping on it made it "disappear in a puff of logic".
