If you have trouble with Windows signed drivers, use version 2.2.2.0

This could be more difficult to use, but that would be difficult to do. "com2tcp" was not in the Windows download and after spending more time than it would have cost to purchase a commercial product, I finally located the file. Then I had to use two different windows and two different virtual pairs of devices to create two virtual serial ports. Finally, my application, which is based on RXTXcomm, doesn't recognize "CNCA0" as a device, so I had to use "\\.\CNCA0".
I'm sure there is an easier way (I hope) to do all this, but I'm not going to stick around to figure it out. Sorry for the harsh review -- com0com is not ready for prime time.

Serial connection between virtual machines without the need for hardware. One of the most effective programs I have

This is simple, solid and did EXACTLY what I needed. This is one of the little tools that I keep around forever to pull out when I need just that.

Good!

Super Job!!!

Sorry my poor English, this project is very useful for me to debug because I work with ancient devices that require COM port interface only.

For those having trouble gettings the driver to work, you should make sure to install the signed version. Works great. Also, the COM ports do not show up in the Ports (COM & LPT) in device manager. They show up in a new device category for com0com and you can't set the port settings as you can on regular ports. Whether that is good or bad I leave to your own judgement.

I downloaded several programs for emulation virtual null modems, also com0com. But the best for me is Null Modem Emulator by Eltima - this software is fully baked.

It does not work!!! In Device Manager it does not show up in Ports(COM& LPT) and I have tried it on a few computers now

Just like Martin I can't use it because the driver isn't signed. Great shame I've heard nothing but good about it.

I found bug :) There is problem when I'm opening one of these virtual port with my app (.NET, VS2008). While second port is open is ok, but when it is closed, main app is 'frozen'. It's 'defrost' in the same time when i opened second port (no data revivied). System is Win7 pro x64

Lack of driver signing means I can't use it, I guess that's one way for microsoft to shut the door on open source. Don't let them do it Vyacheslav get it signed. Thanks for the project anyhow.

Good work, the security matter would be omitted on x64 system you can enable/disable testing mode Keep up and raise :-D

Lack of a digital signature is a serious drawback, keeping me (and probably others) from use this software in a production system. As ReactOS team offers free driver signing service, there is no reason why the driver is not signed yet. Terms and conditions are listed on their "Driver Signing" wiki page.
