this is going to sound like a cop-out, but it looks like a problem with libqt-perl. the "barewords" are valid syntax in this instance, and perl should be recognising them as such...
if you could give a few more details about your setup (in particular, 'pqtapi -v'), i'll try and track down the error, once i've installed debian, and report it upstream if necessary.

Using Debian Etch, 32bit.
Followed instrucions to install, having the prerequisite libraries/dependancies.
Finished and installed apparently successfully, but after running 'asdf' from the terminal, I get:
Bareword "Play" not allowed while "strict subs" in use at /usr/local/share/perl/5.8.8/ASDF/ui.pm line 20.
