For example, automatically render '的' as 'de' instead of 'dì', '了' as 'le' instead of 'liǎo', etc. A better solution would be to develop some way of predicting the pronounciation based on the location in a sentence...but this seems like a good enough work around for the time being!

This work around is already active for the words mentioned (的 and 了).
Not sure if there are any other example that have different pronunciations and quite often used. Since submitter is Anonymous, close feature request (for now). If we find a piece of algorithm/software that can decided which pronunciation for which context, we can reconsider this fr.
