writing settings somewhere is a feature I want to circumvent because this is platform dependend and not everybody (including me) likes software that writes "somewhere" in the filesystem.

how about a start option or env. variable to submit an initial download folder?
Any solution that allows user to get ytd2 to start with user defined folder, without need for user to change it every time form default, would be great.
