Yafumato 0.8 <Aurion> Released

It's been a long time, but I had been working, on and off, on a new release. This release adds HTTP streaming as an update method for low-latency messaging. The old polling method is still available, but the default update method is streaming. There are also a few security enhancements in this release.

This release also includes updated versions of the messenger service libraries that should resolve connection issues that may have developed over time.

Yafumato 0.7.1 <Strife> Released

Yafumato 0.7.1 <Strife> is now available. The database is now an optional package -- users can now login using messenger credentials rather than single sign-on using the database -- making it easier to get up a Yafumato server up and running.

Messenger session handling has also been improved; any active messenger sessions are restored upon signin. Additionally, unstable messenger sessions can be disconnected and replaced using the new Reset Messenger link on the status page.... read more

Yafumato 0.7 <ZEX> Released

Yafumato 0.7 <ZEX> is now available. ZEX adds Google Talk and MSN Messenger to the collection of supported messengers. Additionally, contact names are now formatted and you can format your identity name using the alias field.

The next release, Strife, will make the database optional and allow you to login directly with your individual instant messenger credentials.

Yafumato 0.6.1 <Kidd A> Released

Yafumato 0.6.1 <Kidd A> is now available. I’ve cleaned up the windowing code a bit; fixing the horizontal scrolling of window contents and the text area sizing in Internet Explorer. The Opera browser is now supported, though it has issues of its own (see the release notes for details).

Yafumato 0.6 <Kidd> Released

Pretty pretty windows and a few months after you've got Yafumato 0.6 aka Kidd. The messaging page has been redesigned once again, now featuring dynamic HTML windows to contain the pager and messages. Status messages and new message alerts have also been replaced with icons. Activating a contact (e.g. opening a chat window) is now dynamic. A screenshot is available in the Screenshots section, https://sourceforge.net/project/screenshots.php?group_id=153289.... read more

Yafumato 0.5 Released

Now, fortified with more AJAX! The messaging page has been redesigned with a JavaScript object model, patterned after the server-side model, that dynamically generates the HTML for the pager. As a result, the pager is now completely dynamic. Contacts are dynamically shown or hidden based on their status (by default the page uses the AIM convention of a separate group for offline contacts, though this behavior can be changed in the JSP). Sending messages and expanding or collapsing groups also now dynamically update the page. Only activating contacts and updating status still require a redirect to a new page.... read more

Yafumato 0.4 Released

Yafumato Web Messenger version 0.4 has been released.

Yafumato 0.4 supports dynamic HTML via AJAX, with a configurable poll interval, for elements that are visible on the messaging page. This includes new messages for active contacts as well as availability updates and new message alerts for contacts that are in a visible group.

For the next several releases I will be concentrating on adding dynamic functionality to the messaging page with AJAX and JavaScript. A new version of the messaging page with a JavaScript object model that allows dynamic control of the pager is almost done, expect to see it soon.

Yafumato 0.3.1 Released

The initial public release of Yafumato Web Messenger, version 0.3.1, has been released. The original .zip file was corrupted during transfer, it has been updated and verified.

Yafumato 0.3.1 provides basic messaging functionality including sign on and sign off, sending and receiving messages, and setting away messages for AOL Instant Messenger and Yahoo Messenger.

Planned for the next release is the addition of AJAX to retrieve new messages without having to refresh the page.
