It will depend on whether the ViaVoice engine supports it. The text they ask you to read for training it, claims that it will format times and dates automatically. That has not been my experience, even allowing for U.S. formatting. Just off the top of my head, it should be possible to set up an XML file to do it, but any attempt to dictate one letter at a time usually has a letter space between the characters. Pressing return can be a problem. In text, you can say "newline." The example on the Web site suggests that you dictate a command then dictate a Return. It doesn't work. But if instead of saying Return you say newline, the engine will insert a newline character, and the command will be executed. For a combination of keystrokes, see COMMANDS.TXT which explains the XML syntax. As for the dot, the engine will recognize "Period." If you want the word dot, there may be a problem. DNS asks you to hold down a key in those circumstances. It reminds me of when I was using ViaVoice with a British English model. In England they call the Queen "ma'am" pronounced "Mum". Whenever I said "Mum" same as American "Mom", I got "ma'am"! A lot of people must write to the Queen. I should point out that I had nothing to do with writing the code. They have all left us. I am largely the bunny who is left "flogging a dead horse." In Oz, we call that a "Claytons" maintainer - the maintainer you have when you don't have a maintainer. The phrase is probably lost on anybody else, but look up "Clayton's" the beverage on Wikipedia for the origin. Anyway, I can only offer you help within the extent of my own knowledge.
