Interesting. Does xemacs look for different permissions than (gnu) emacs? I can read mail with emacs but not xemacs. If you're trying to get xemacs going, I suggest looking at www.sealiesoftware.com and follow links to xemacs, good instructions there (including links to instructions at xemacs.org) on how to build the current version, along with a patch for Darwin. You can substitute 21.45 for 21.43 in the instructions. I had also tried using a canned installer but when finished that didn't allow me to add packages. -Ron COhen- Bob Koss writes: > Ron Cohen <rc...@ll...> writes: > > > Is anyone out there using xemacs with OS 10.1.1, and using > > it to read email (either with vm or rmail)? > > > > I get the following error message when I try to read mail: > > > > movemail: Permission denied for /var/mail/E000757--see source file > > lib-src/movemail.c > > > > > I've had that error in my Linux days and it was a permission problem > on /var/mail. > > I've not been able to use xemacs on 10.1 yet.
