BTW - is this the only thing you enabled Depth Test for? Doesn't make sense for simple 2D image display. Will have to improve the texture rendering anyway, texture coordinates are a tricky field (this will part of my phd thesis...) Another question: why are you using $X_LIBS $X_PRE_LIBS -lGL $X_EXTRA_LIBS when checking for libGL? Was this necessary on your machine? glBegin() should always be in libGL itself. Strange world...
