Thanks Daniel, i think this is important. anyway... i've just realized after some talk over the net that US based distros will probably avoid including video tecnology like mpeg4. i read that mpeg4 involves 19 essential patents and the patent holders will have a committee to evaluate how they would license/charge for it. Current schedule suggests that they will not decide anything before mid of next year. http://www.m4if.org/patents/video111401.html So basically i guess users will have to keep downloading it over the web... :( mpeg2 must have similar issues (through MPEG-LA), although i believe the license is already written. regards, Miguel |
