Category: demuxer (stream type support) Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Dave Stark (ilikejam) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Reduced bitrates on some mms streams Initial Comment: When listening to the following stream: mms://union.surrey.ac.uk/GU2Live on Windows (with Media Player 9), I get a bitrate of over 100kb/s, and it proudly proclaims the stream is 'Optimized for Media Player 9'. Playing the same stream on Xine (1.0), I get a bitrate of 21kb/s. I have the latest (2005-01-15) 'essential' Win32 codecs installed. I have tried this on several machines (Windows and Linux) and the result is always the same. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2005-06-28 09:18 Message: Logged In: NO yes. It is 1.5 Mbps. I think the problem is that xine does not detect all 8 streams in the link mms://wmedia.siol.net/tvpika/live (4 audio and 4 video) but rather defaults to the 4th and 8th streams. Here is the relevant output from verbose=2 option: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- gui_xine_open_and_play(): mrl: 'mms://wmedia.siol.net/tvpika/live', sub 'NONE', start_pos 0, start_time 0, av_offset 0, spu_offset 0. xine: found input plugin : mms streaming input plugin Resolving host 'wmedia.siol.net' at port '1755' xine: found demuxer plugin: ASF demux plugin demux_asf: unknown GUID: 0x722f675d, 0x32cf, 0x4e73, { 0xa4, 0x53, 0xbf, 0x81, 0x34, 0x9a, 0x88, 0x56 } demux_asf: audio conceal interleave detected (1 x 1 x 320) net_buf_ctrl: nbc_set_speed_pause set_speed 0 demux_asf: stream: 4, bitrate 13436 bps demux_asf: stream: 8, bitrate 38841 bps demux_asf: video stream_id: 8, audio stream_id: 4 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2005-06-27 15:35 Message: Logged In: NO Guessing here, but I'll reply anyway. Is your 'Network Bandwidth' setting in the 'Media' section OK? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2005-06-27 15:20 Message: Logged In: NO I have the same problem with these mms protocols that supply multiple bitrate streams (uses asf format): mms://wmedia.siol.net/tvpika/live mms://82.145.212.24/ktv3 I tried the suggestion and changed the MMS Protocol to TCP instead of auto and the problem is not solved. xine, totem, kaffeine and mplayer always chooses the last stream which is not the highest bitrate supported by my connection. Any suggestions? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Dave Stark (ilikejam) Date: 2005-02-07 16:26 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1024685 Apologies. I found the 'MMS Protocol' option in the configuration, and set it to 'TCP' instead of 'Auto'. The stream works fine at the higher bitrate now. Should the higher bitrate stream not be the default when 'Auto' is chosen, or is this something that is set up at the media server? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=109655&aid=1118279&group_id=9655 |
