I've subsequently tested with ffmpeg in lenny and found the same problem ‒ why I didn't do this before release, I don't know; we should be trying to keep it buildable on recent Linux distribution releases without requiring anything else to be built from source (help with this is always welcome)... anyway, this is now fixed, ready for the next release: http://hg.debian.org/hg/xine-lib/xine-lib?cmd=changeset;node=c20ec3a8802d If you apply this patch to 1.1.16, there will be one reject affecting ChangeLog.
