[xine-user] How to remove and start over?

I've never had any problems compiling the latest xine
and having it work, but this time on a fresh Linux
install, I installed that PCHDTV version of xine and I
couldn't get it to read any DVDs (even after doing the
symlink to /dev/hdc and checking ownership). Compiling
and installing over the top of this version hasn't
helped any.

Is there any straightforward way of removing the xine
install files I've got currently, so I can start over?
