To fix the Xv issue, I added this line to XF86Config-4 as suggested by 
your link:

Option "XaaNoOffscreenPixmaps"


The Xv library is the one that came with the latest XFree86 update for 
Mandrake 9.1:

XFree86-4.3-8.7.91mdk
