Thanks for the link. I think the problem was because of Video output plugin. Now i use the command xine -V XShm file.mpg.
 
But now i have a different problem. The controls panel which has Volume control, Play, Pause controls and some more is not visible. Can anybody tell me what could be the problem. In the FAQ i did not see any question relating to this.
