Additionally, you can have several adapters using the same IP address, which may be a useful failsafe setup. (Connecting both cards to different switches, for automatic failover.) So I'm not sure if there is a way to convert interface => IP address. I'd expect a function to bind sockets to a certain interface, though. It's just that I haven't found it after a quick search...
