I recently installed Xine on Mandrake 9.0 on a Dell Inspiron 7500 laptop and it seems just what I want. However, I have a few problems and hope someone can help me with them: 1 It would not play encrypted dvds even with libdvdcss installed. I uninstalled the Mandrake rpm and compiled xine from source and all is now well. In case anyone else has this trouble, I suspect the Mdk rpm does not have the relevant plugin to read libdvdcss. 2 However, I only get a tiny (half inch square) picture in the top left of the window, with streams of light running horizontally and vertically from it. I get exactly the same with Ogle. (which ran perfectly on Mandrake 8.2) 3 The film stops after chapter 1 or whatever - the slider runs along to the end in about twenty seconds then the whole thing stops. I had exactly the same problem with Vlc many months ago, but cannot remember what fixed it (update, I think) I ran xine-check which reported no problems, and I could see no apparent problems when I ran Xine in a terminal - apart from one which I seem to remember from Vlc now I come to think of it: video_overlay:overlay not present video_overlay:MENU BUTTON DROPPED menu pts=13568 spu pts=0 This comes right at the end. At the beginning I get 'display not using xinerama' - is that important? Can anyone shed any light on this for me please? -- John Mellor Linux - Free in every way |
