[xine-user] extracting file info

hi,

i wonder if there is an easy way to get information about a video file written
to stdout, without having to play the video. for example, wavplay does this when
invoked as 'wavplay -i'. xine-ui of course has the potential, but i could not find
a parameter doing this. i tried toxine, too, but it does not display the
information. i'm trying to build a small database of videos, and need the codec
 and dimension information for this. xine-ui outputs it as debug message. now if
there was a way to automatically stop xine after a second or so, that would be a
possibility, too.

btw, xine seems to calculate the index of unfinished files on-the-fly with the
new version. that's very nice :)
