How about settling on a style that already exists ? Like Linux kernel
style, or GNU style (I prefer the Linux style myself, with braces on new
lines ;)

Can the more intelligent plugins tell the demuxers what the mime-type of
the stream is ?

Xine 0.9.13 refuses to play shoutcast and icecast streams because of
that (it seems).
