I hope nobody minds my sending this to both the dvdnav and xine lists. It's not always clear which part a problem is caused by. Anyway, I just got 0.9.2 of both programs and here's some results: System: Mandrake 8.0, XFree86 4.0.3, Matrox G400, Thunderbird 850, obscure sound card running under Alsa 5. Alsa 9 doesn't work for this sound card. First, some general problems: -- The v and V keys to control volume don't work at all. I can still change the volume using tools like aumix, but I can't change the volume within Xine. -- xine --help says nothing at all about interlace modes. -- Subtitles have the same problem I've seen in previous versions; if the subtitle contains more than one color, the second color is offset a few pixels from the first color. This is much easier to notice if the subtitles are not white. -- DVD menus that have options to select subtitles don't seem to work. The subtitle doesn't really get selected when the DVD is played. -- I still get a sound problem: the sound has clicks and pops in it at times, particularly in the louder parts of voices. It doesn't always happen to the same degree--it's usually mild, but is really, really, bad on the Dolby Digital trailer on Royal Warriors. -- Sound doesn't work on Dracula (1931). I get a lot of audio_out: inserting 47988 0-frames to fill a gap of 90000 pts I have a possibly bootleg Hong Kong anime DVD that *sometimes* does not have sound; this appears to change depending on how I move the cursor on the menu. Commparing a run with sound and a run without sound shows no nontrivial differences except for a lot of 47988 0-frame lines again. -- Savior of the Soul (Hong Kong) segfaults. Examining the core file shows me the following: (gdb) where #0 0x402994ce in select () from /lib/libc.so.6 #1 0x4019868c in _XlcPublicMethods () from /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6 #2 0x400e56ea in _XRead () from /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6 #3 0x400e5461 in _XReadEvents () from /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6 #4 0x400d6a21 in XNextEvent () from /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6 #5 0x08061bd9 in widget_run () Error accessing memory address 0x1: No such process.
