I think you're right. There's something missing in my kernel (2.4.7). I rebuilt with MTRR and I2C, anything else I need? Am I supposed to mount the dvd first? I can't. "mount -t udf /dev/dvd /mnt/dvd" gives "no medium found" (tried with several dvds). CDROM works, no problem and "dmesg" gives hdc: CD-224E, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive hdc: ATAPI 24X CD-ROM drive, 128kB Cache, UDMA(33) Thanks for the help.
