We will specify an additional note about the blade being powered on when discussing rcons implementation with NGP blades ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: jjh (jjhua) Date: 2012-03-12 18:08 Message: Hi Grace, In our NGP Hardeare Management doc, we have document it. ------------- 3. make sure the blade server powered on rpower blade state rpower blade on ------------- I will put it also in the rcons section later. Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: grace yeh (graceyeh) Date: 2012-03-12 18:03 Message: Please advice how to power on the blade ? What command I need to use to power on the blade ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: jjh (jjhua) Date: 2012-03-12 17:58 Message: Hi Brian, If the blade is power off, it will not open the console instead of outputting one messsage "The command 'rcons' is only support while the blade is in the on state ". That's the same when we open the console through CMM. Before open the console, our code will check the blade's state. That's also what I designed. When admins get this message, he/she should power on the blade . When the blade is on, the console will be opened automatically. So I don't think this defect is valid. Actually, there is another problem. at the beginning, the blade is on, and we open the console well. and then we power off the blade, and then power it on. at that time, we open the console, some errors will come out. We need to reconnect the connections in this situation. And Er Tao is working on. Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Brian Croswell (bcroswell) Date: 2012-03-12 10:44 Message: Er Tao, John, I asked Grace to open this bug to track this as a documentation/design issue. I told her that she will need to rpower <blade> on before executing the rcons command to the blade as the work around . Since we are using the "blade" to be used for CEC/blade properties, we need to have the "blade" CEC powered up so that rcons can be used . If the blade is powered off the rcons returns the error. I think we will need to document in our Wiki that the admin should rpower <blade> state to make sure the blades is on, if not the admin should rpower blade on, and check rpower blade state to be on before running the rcons <blade> I think that we need to document ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=1006945&aid=3502772&group_id=208749 |
