Category: AIX-specific Group: v2.3 >Status: Closed Resolution: Fixed Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Steven Hansell (hansell) Assigned to: Bruce (bp-sawyers) Summary: Inconsistent output with pping using non-existent interfaces Initial Comment: Abstract: Inconsistent output with pping using non-existent interfaces and options Code Levels: deps - 0924 core - 0928 Interesting - pping returns without feedback! but ppping responds with noping as expected. (CIT does not have an ib2, and certainly no ib2 on the MN) [root on c920f2ec01][/stadmin/gfw/p6/ECL350/gfw/b0909a_0937.350-ih] => pping -i ib2 f1 (no output - unexpected) [root on c920f2ec01][/stadmin/gfw/p6/ECL350/gfw/b0909a_0937.350-ih] => ppping -i ib2 f1 (output as expected) c920f1ec01: c920f1ec01-ib2: noping c920f1ec01: c920f1ec02-ib2: noping c920f1ec02: c920f1ec01-ib2: noping c920f1ec02: c920f1ec02-ib2: noping [root on c920f2ec01][/usrtools/ibtools] => ppping f1 -i ib0,ib1,ib2 (output as expected) c920f1ec01: pinged all nodes successfully on interface ib0 c920f1ec02: pinged all nodes successfully on interface ib0 c920f1ec01: pinged all nodes successfully on interface ib1 c920f1ec02: pinged all nodes successfully on interface ib1 c920f1ec01: c920f1ec01-ib2: noping c920f1ec01: c920f1ec02-ib2: noping c920f1ec02: c920f1ec01-ib2: noping c920f1ec02: c920f1ec02-ib2: noping and the response is inconsistent [root on c920f2ec01][/usrtools/ibtools] => pping f1 -i ib0,ib1,ib2 (no output - unexpected) [root on c920f2ec01][/usrtools/ibtools] => pping f1 -i ib0,ib1 (no output - unexpected) [root on c920f2ec01][/usrtools/ibtools] => pping f1 -i ib0 (output as expected) c920f1ec01-ib0: noping c920f1ec02-ib0: noping ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: SourceForge Robot (sf-robot) Date: 2009-11-04 02:20 Message: This Tracker item was closed automatically by the system. Also enhanced the -i flag to accept a list of interfaces, like ppping does. If you want to try this out before it is in the next build, just need to grab https://xcat.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/xcat/xcat-core/trunk/xCAT-client/bin/pping and put it on your system. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Bruce (bp-sawyers) Date: 2009-10-02 12:13 Message: Steve, pping doesn't yet support a list of interfaces on the -i flag. Only one interface can be specified. Look at the man page carefully. I added the list feature to ppping recently based on Kerry's request, but haven't gotten to adding it to pping yet. Maybe soon. So the cmds like "pping f1 -i ib0,ib1" are invalid, but it still should give you some sort of output. And "pping -i ib2 f1" should give you the noping msg. I'll look into it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=1006945&aid=2871383&group_id=208749 |
