Dear Lewis, Backing up a hard drive is dealt with in several tutorials out=20 there. I attach some text: Tutorial 1 _________________________________________________________________________= ___ New HDD 1. Cable Switch Trick: * =B7 Plug a power-plug from your PC into your Xbox HD and turn-on=20 your computer. * =B7 Right when the PC starts booting up, start pressing the=20 Pause-Break key and do not let it detect your drives. * =B7 Make sure the IDE cable within the Xbox is going to the Xbox HD= ,=20 and turn on the Xbox. * =B7 Wait for the Xbox to get to the dashboard (fully booted). * =B7 Unplug the IDE ribbon cable that is going to the Xbox HD, and=20 replace it with one that is connected to your computer. * =B7 Now, press a key (some times CTRL-Q is needed) to allow your=20 computer to continue booting. * 2. Copy the hard drive to another (larger) hard drive: * =B7 Download DiskPro Lite from:=20 http://www.e-mart.com/www/download.htmlYou want to download the DPCR.EXE=20 file. * =B7 Execute the DPCR.EXE file to extract the files from it. * =B7 Format a BOOTABLE DOS floppy. Copy the diskpro.exe file to the=20 floppy. * =B7 Boot your PC with the newly made floppy in the drive. * =B7 At the DOS prompt type "diskpro"' and hit enter (no quotes). * =B7 Use the Quick Copy option. * =B7 Select your source drive. * =B7 Select your destination drive. * =B7 Make sure the above choices are correct before starting the cop= y. * =B7 Relax while the drive is copied to a new drive. * =B7 If you need to use DiskPro again delete the hidden file it=20 creates on your A and C drive named DOSFIT.DSK * 3. Fix-up the Partitions: * =B7 You need to flash your BIOS to EvolutionX v2.2 or better. If=20 your using a Homebrew chip such as a 29F040B split in to 512k chunks.=20 The EvolutionX v2.2 BIOS is on the EvolutionX ISO floating around. * =B7 To split the BIOS use Windows Commander or a program like that.= =20 Now Flash the 512k BIOS flash your Homebrew chip. More info on flashing=20 and splitting can be found at=20 http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/homemademod.php * =B7 Put the new HD in the XBox as Master. * =B7 Boot-up using EvolutionX (on HD, CD-RW, or DVD-R/RW) * =B7 FTP to your Xbox (use EvolutionX to get your IP if you don't=20 know it). Format only partition 6. Use the following command: "FORMATPATH=20 \Device\Harddisk0\Partition6" You will receive a key. Use this key to type: "FORMATDRIVE <key>"=20 (where <key> is the key you received) * 4. Notes: * =B7 You might want to look at your drive space using EvolutionX=20 before you start so you can see the difference. * =B7 This is risky. If you do anything wrong (and sometimes just=20 because) you could lose your HD or Xbox MB making your XBox worthless. * =B7 You will need to know the basics of PC's to do this. How to=20 setup new HD's (master/slave), how to FTP, how to follow instructions. * =B7 You will need the EvolutionX BIOS to format the partition. * This document was written by: Taran Information was collected by: EvolutionX Team, Adam Branom, mhill,=20 and Buster |
