Max, Thank you! I've checked out SRC format, everything is fine except filesize. It's about 30% larger than original .stl file and 100% larger than sum of binary geometry files. Though it's also compressed good enough with gzip, I'm still looking for other options. Leonard, I want to store only geometry. Indeed, I want to make web previews of .stl files. For now I'm testing examples made by aopt locally. I use http-server, 'cause chrome doesn't allow ajax requests from local html files. However .x3d and binGeo files are loaded. I've checked out github issues: it seems like support of compressed .x3d was removed in 1.6. And Max confirmed that .x3db is not supported by x3dom. So for now I don't have final solution. I'll try SRC files compressed by nginx on-the-fly. And also check if it possible to implement custom file source in x3dom, to unzip compressed files using gzip-js (or kind of), or restore this feature from 1.5.
