I have tried to ignore the "onions" debate, believing that it was just a joke, but if anybody is serious about renaming Webware as Webonions or anything like that, I think it would be a big mistake. People developing commercial or corporate applications have a hard enough time using Python in the face of C++/Java/VB bigotry. Webware potentially could give thousands of sites a compelling reason to adopt/allow Python for use on their web servers. I can't see how deliberately naming the product after something that stinks will help anyone make a case for using it in a serious application. I hope that Chuck will nip this idea in the bud, or bulb, or whatever. Jim Dukarm DELTA-X RESEARCH |
