You could use the SetEnv stuff -- I've never tried it, but it should set
an environmental variable that's then accessible through
self.request().environ().  It should definitely work with the CGI-based
adapter, but I'm not as sure about mod_webkit.  You could also add
something to the URL with mod_rewrite.
