root@ratfink:~# logrotate --help | verbose
-su: verbose: command not found
root@ratfink:~# logrotate --help | grep verbose
  -v, --verbose             Display messages during rotation
root@ratfink:~# logrotate --help
Usage: logrotate [OPTION...] <configfile>
  -d, --debug               Don't do anything, just test (implies -v)
  -f, --force               Force file rotation
  -m, --mail=command        Command to send mail (instead of
`/usr/bin/mail')
  -s, --state=statefile     Path of state file
  -v, --verbose             Display messages during rotation

Help options:
  -?, --help                Show this help message
      --usage               Display brief usage message
root@ratfink:~# apti[1] search logrotate
i   logrotate                                                   - Log

As you can see, logrotate doesn't have a version flag ...

[1] apti is just an alias for aptitude, apt is an alias for apt-get (on my
system)
