Hello Jamie, Joe and users, I have a curious situation with Dovecot as administered under Webmin. I have a home machine with Thunderbird and a workplace machine with the same email client. The workplace machine has no issue with sending an email. But, when I get back home I can receive but I can't send. And, I have a tail -f on my /var/log/dovecot/dovecot_debug.log and it shows my Blackberry connecting/disconnecting every 15 minutes to download new mail. If I reply to the mail on the Blackberry no problemo: the mail is sent?? If I connect to Dovecot as follows I get the message: * OK Dovecot Ready telnet davidwbrown.name 143 * Workplace OS: Windows XP Thunderbird: 2.0.0.23 IMAP: Dovecot 1.2 Webmin: 1.490 * Home OS: Windows XP Thunderbird: 2.0.0.23 IMAP: Dovecot 1.2 Webmin: 1.490 Pop-up error condition in Thunderbird when new mail or reply mail is attempted on the home machine: The message could not be sent because connecting to SMTP server davidwbrown.name failed. |
