Well, this sounds a bit of a problem, because I am no really good consultant regarding this (exspecially when it comes to english). Normally I would go to www.rpmseek.org and search for what I want. http://www.rpmseek.com/index.html On the left I input "perl" and swtich it to "rpms" below and click on "go". On the next page I have several things in view and I take just the first entry "perl". http://rpmseek.com/rpm-pl/perl.html?hl=de&cs=perl:PN:0:0:1:0 It leads me to the result-page and I can redefine the search only to look for "RedHat" Now I can go to the Perl I want: "perl-5.8.1-90.rc4.2.i386.rpm" RedHat Rawhide 5.8.1 90.rc4.2 i386 and to the right I can go to the download page: http://rpmseek.com/rpm-dl/perl-5.8.1-90.rc4.2.i386.html?hl=de&cs=perl:PN:0:0:1:0:813747 Now I can download this packe from several mirrors. You should choose one near to you. http://rpmseek.com/download/ftp://ftp.uni-kl.de/pub/linux/redhat/rawhide/i386/RedHat/RPMS/perl-5.8.1-90.rc4.2.i386.rpm?hl=de&nid=885 This would be "my download". Now I open up a shell and go to my download folder: $ /home/macmewes/downloads/perl and type in su -c "rpm -Uvh *.rpm" Linux will ask you for the Root-Password and then installs the package. If not it will tell you, what went wrong and what is missing. Now you have the chance to go back to rpmseek.org and lookup those stuff. But in my opinion it would be better to get some serious ideas of your system. And you should consider subscribing to the RedHat-Mailinglist at http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list/ and ask your question again. kind regards Martin Mewes

-- Highest Regards, Rodney Richison RCR Computing http://www.rcrnet.net ro...@rc... 918-358-1111 Spam trap info tr...@rc... tr...@rc...

|
