The idea behind vil2 is that most of the time, you have a concrete image format anyway (vil_memory_image_of<T> or vil2_image_view<T>), so why not make that the common case. Other, more general code that can handle images of unknown type (unknown at compile time, that is) can use vil2_image_base_sptr. > I don't mind using the beta2 or the CVS version I would recommend the CVS version. The core code is quite stable. The latest build status (updated nightly) is available at http://www.cs.rpi.edu/research/vision/vxl/Testing/Dashboard/MostRecentResults-Nightly/Dashboard.html > Wouldn't it be possible to update this example file on the VXL web page > to include these changes and a suitable CmakeLists.txt file ??? Yes! I, for one, didn't realise that the examples.tar is out of date. Thanks for bringing it up. > My suggestion would be to put a complete example, up to date, > with the CMakeLists.txt file, the version of VXL to use with it > and everything needed to work it. That is a good idea. It was done for the older versions of VXL (which is where you got the example from), but hadn't been updated for the later changes. FWIW, I've included a CMakeLists.txt and two example files I just committed to the repository (core/examples). You'll need to add the UseVXL.cmake stuff to the CMakeLists.txt to compile outside the VXL tree, and remove the "SUBDIR(vnl_calc)". Cheers, Amitha. |
