[VuFind-General] Email-Alerting-System in Vufind

I know there has been a discussion about improving RSS-Feeds for Vufind 
lately.

Has there been any changes in this area yet?

I just started thinking upon a input from a patron:

- We do already have "saved searches"
- We do already have sending email possibilities
- There have been some efforts to identify changes in the index for RSS

It would be a great feature to have an Email-Alerting-System in Vufind! 
I feel this feature could be of great interest for a lot of situations.

Are there any plans in this direction and do you think this would be 
worth to develop?
