Sorry, it appears that my memory is slipping -- the sort options in searches.ini were added after the RC2 release. If you want to change sort options in RC2, you need to edit web/sys/SearchObject.php. The searches.ini options added after RC2 only allow you to change the order and contents of the sort list, not the default. The newer code has also moved the relevant logic to web/sys/SearchObject/Solr.php. Whichever version of the code you are using, the easiest way to change the default may be to rearrange the sort options so your desired default is at the top, then make a few changes to the Search Object code to translate null sort options into the desired default. I think the most obvious places that would need to change would be renderLinkWithSort() and renderLinkWithSort(). I'm not sure how complicated this would be without digging into the code, but I'm sure it can be done. If you have trouble, let me know and I can try to make it a priority to add this as a configurable option in the trunk code. - Demian ________________________________________ From: Markus Fischer [in...@fl...] Sent: Wednesday, February 10, 2010 11:43 AM To: vuf...@li... Subject: Re: [VuFind-General] filtering Hmm, I couldn't find a way to change the default sorting order. It would be nice if one could choose for example to have "Date descending" to be the default sort order instead of relevance. There must be a place in the logic where "relevance" is beeing defined as the default, so it's being selected in the view. Where is the place to change this? The "recommendations module" project I've been working on (not part of RC2, but coming in the 1.0 release) also makes it easier to associate particular types of recommendations with particular searches -- might be useful for improving the related subjects functionality. > > Let me know if you have any particular types of customizations in mind and I can elaborate on your options for implementing them. > > - Demian > ________________________________________ > From: Reginald Amade (ext) [r....@vm...] > Sent: Wednesday, February 10, 2010 9:24 AM > To: vuf...@li... > Subject: [VuFind-General] filtering > > Hi, > > VuFind offers the user to > > 1. filter the returned result. > 2. sort the returned result > 3. related subjects within the returned result > > > Can these criteria be managed/set? > > Met vriendelijke groet, > > > Reginald Amade > Consultant Trasys > > > Disclaimer: www.vmm.be/disclaimer > > Kent u onze nieuwsbrief al? www.vmm.be/nieuwsbrief > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > SOLARIS 10 is the OS for Data Centers - provides features such as DTrace, > Predictive Self Healing and Award Winning ZFS.
