I was talking to my boss about it last week actually, and I've been stuck at home with a sick family on and off for a bit now. So I was going to start by hijacking my wife's vista laptop and doing an install... I gather most parties I've seen interested in testing start with their desktop/laptop from what I've seen here lately. The stuff I was talking to my boss about was simple guides on how to start editing your results screens, how the smarty templates interact with the php code, and a complete trace of logic through an example search (including ajax). Subject: Re: [VuFind-General] Importing Records (and documenting) Go for it! Anyone interested in taking on the position of master of the documentation universe for vufind? I think you have your suggestion already - create a page called "VuFind Installation Strategies" where folks willing can list how their setup is configured and staff manage their installation. I'd be more than happy to contribute the setup for Villanova. Andrew On Tue, Jun 9, 2009 at 9:48 AM, <an...@ae...<mailto:an...@ae...>> wrote: Bernhard has a very good point about the documentation. In fact everyone who I have spoken to about VuFind has commented on how bad the documentation is. However...I understand the concept of a wiki and I guess it is up to us to improve the documentation ourselves. If someone would like to create or suggest an area on the wiki for 'experiences' then I am more than happy to document how I installed and how I am going to customise my installation (although you'll have to be quick as information leaks from my brain very quickly). I think if enough people do this then we could start to tease out best practise and good documentation should naturally follow. What do you think?
