Greg, Andrew, All, I guess it depends to whom (among your catalogers) you talk. Per MARC21 standards; Fields 090-099 are reserved for local call number use and local definition. For interchange purposes, documentation of the structure of the 09X fields and input conventions must be provided to exchange partners by the organization initiating the interchange. First, VuFind needs to index these with the priority of 099 first, going down to 090, and last 050. Secondly, if local use chose to populate any of these fields with non-unique data (something like ONLINE, or PER, all undistinguishable) for their serials, VuFind needs to allow for local implementations to map their indexes accordingly. Does VuFind have the option of NOT indexing (exclude, suppress) call numbers accordng to material type (such as serials, eBooks)? That would be neat.
