Okay - so I was able to get intouch with Erik Hatcher - who developed Black= light (http://blacklight.betech.virginia.edu/) He is storing the full marc record as a text field in solr and his system s= eems to be rather fast so I am starting to lean in this direction. I have = asked him some questions about performance - shall see what he says. He al= so mentioned that the single text field allows for searching of all the fie= lds very easy. Andrew |
