Operating System: Ubuntu Studio 7.10
Vtcl Version: 1.6.1a1
After extracting the archive and attempting to run configure, I am returned the following error:
/bin/sh^M: bad interpreter: No such file or directory
I fixed the problem by running dos2unix
$> dos2unix configure configure
./configure then works without complaint.
It seems that somewhere in the configure file are some rogue Windows characters.
The same version 1.6.1a1 still does this error on Ubuntu 9.04, thank you for the trick with dos2unix, it did solved the problem.
