I am not familiar with this modem, but a couple things come to mind: 1) Are you sure that the phone line is plugged into the 'Line' jack and not the handset jack? 2) Are you using a version of vgetty that includes force_detect and/or are you sure that your modem is properly recognized? My logs say this (note: yS2 is short for ttyS2, and so this log is in /var/log/mgetty/vg_ttyS2.log): 01/06 12:03:20 yS2 detecting voice modem type 01/06 12:03:21 yS2 Multitech 5634ZPX_PCI detected 01/06 12:03:21 yS2 initializing Multitech 5634ZPX_PCI voice modem 01/06 12:03:23 yS2 waiting... Yours should say "SupraExpress 56K" (did you say force_detect supra ?) The other modem definition to try is "SupraExpress 56e PRO" (which does NOT have an entry in the force_detect table). Notice in the vgetty distribution there is also a mgetty-1.1.31/voice/libvoice/README.Supra file. HTH, --Tom |
