Same Note value for Multiple Keys
Virtual MIDI controller for Linux, Windows and OSX

Another feature we want is to be able to assign the same key note for multiple keys. My case is this.
I have mapped 8 keys from each row of the keyboard for 3 octaves. i.e,
qwer uiop -> Upper Octave
asdf jkl; -> Middle Octave
zxcv m,./ -> Lower Octave
In each row I wanted the Upper C of the next octave to be assigned to two keys. i.e,
I want the same note value for keys
/ (forward slash) and A (Alphabet A)
next C for the keys
; (semi colon) and Q (Alphabet Q)
That way it is easy to play the next octave.
But the current mapping is based on the note, instead of key, which is why we are not able to assign more than one key for the same note.
This has been requested and explained before. For instance:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/vmpk/forums/forum/854991/topic/2462402
To summarize: the dialog is based on notes, but the XML files are based on keys, so you can assign the same note to several keys if you edit the XML map file with any external editor.
In the future it would be possible to implement a different keymapping editor inside VMPK without the current limitations. Let's keep this feature request open as a reminder.
The link you provided https://sourceforge.net/projects/vmpk/forums/forum/854991/topic/2462402
has a redirect loop.
I'd love to read it!
