NOTE: cross posted to gmane.comp.emulators.virtualbox.user and gmane.os.openindiana.general NOTE: Running Vbox ... 18 on Openindiana (A solaris 11 like branch of solaris) My first go around using vbox on Solaris 11. I created a vm runing linux successfully, before I got around to installing guest extensions and extension.pack... the new 4.3.18 was out. So attempting to update to that I uninstalled ...16 and installed ...18. Now attempting to install the extension.pack I've fished around with google for advice on how to install the vbox extension.pack What I found out was that it is done directly thru the vbox interface. You just double click the file. Most recent extension Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-4.3.18-96516.vbox-extpack So following that advice, after clicking on the file you are asked for the role you want to use ... root already filled in so I ok that.... It ends up with this failure information Failed to install the Extension Pack /home/harry/Downloads/ Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-4.3.18-96516(1).vbox-extpack. The installer failed with exit code 255: . Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005) Component: ExtPackManager Interface: IExtPackManager {3295e6ce-b051-47b2-9514-2c588bfe7554} Is this an actual bug? I started trying to uninstall so to facilitate reinstall like: VBoxManage extpack uninstall "Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack" 0%... Progress state: NS_ERROR_FAILURE VBoxManage: error: Failed to uninstall "Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack" VBoxManage: error: The installer failed with exit code 255: VBoxManage: error: Details: code NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005), component ExtPackManager, interface IExtPackManager VBoxManage: error: Context: "int handleExtPack(HandlerArg*)" at line 1183 of file VBoxManageMisc.cpp It isn't a wrong file name failure so I guess that part was right, but still there is something besides my commands causing the problem. Or are my commands still not correctly formulated? Any advice would be really welcome: |
