When playing Sonic Advance 2 as soon as you start playing it the game goes into a screen with gray rectangles and there's no way to play the game.
I believe this is a regression because this was a bug in a past version but was fixed.
Note, that screen is the multiplayer connection screen. It normally appears with character selections when playing a multiplayer game using the GBA link cable.
what revision? i cannot reproduce this on 1012-Win32 MFC.
also post a screenshot of the Rom info window.

r1001 GTK+ 32bit
Also it seems the GTK+ version doesn't have a rom info window but the bug occurs on any version of Sonic Advance 2.

alright, assigning to bgk, it seems specific to GTK as windows mfc is working fine with the A2NE rom.
I am also experiencing this bug with 1.8.0 SDL on Gentoo Linux with Sonic Adventure 1.
Er, advance, sorry. And I do also get the same problem on 2, and with the GTK build.
This bug only happens when you're using a bios and enable "Skip Bios Logo"
well in that case, its an anti piracy issue and not a bug.
issue was MFC has linking enabled by default, whilst gtk/sdl did not. the Game does a startup test of the linking hardware (or so it would seem) which could have been anti piracy or just quirk of these games, which is why mfc would work fine with and without a bios but not with skip bios enabled.
