Hi, 1. How about writing a page on the site with all command line options? If this is a problem for you, just tell me the command line options and I will write the page (my small contrib.) 2. could you give me a reference to this? I am not sure what you were referring to here. 3. This process is quite complex and is not as easy as could be. Further more, I couldn't get it to work my way... I defined a CONFIG_DEV in the command line to say uml1 in the cruel intention of connecting a hostfs directory structure that contains a uml1 directory which will contain some scripts I would like to run on startup, but I was unable to see this export from within the UML, what am I doing wrong? 4. ssh is a way, but again, being me... I always look for another way, smt like hostdo "command" which will enable me to run processes on the host, such as IFConfig, ARP -ds and so on, from the inside of the uml which might be useful for defining a better process of a managed uml bootup. Regarding your suggestion, I accept and will try, I have looked at the uml_mconsole code and will try to come up with a design, which I will post for review on the -devel list for evaluation before beginning the coding process. Is there a way to run commands on a certain UML from the host machine? Look at the UML test harness. There's a module that lets you boot up a UML and run commands on it. > 3. This is more userspace stuff, but have a look at http://user-mode-linux.sourceforge.net/config.html for one way to do this. > 4. Also, you might need a better mconsole client, i.e. one that can switch between UMLs, and if you feel like adding that, I'll take the patches :-) Jeff |
