Hi, I am trying to configure UML on a laptop, and connect between the host and UML using a socket program. The network set up is done using ethertap mechanism. I believe that all my configurations, routing etc is proper but am still not able to talk to host from UML using sockets. Though, I can ping to host from UML. The configuration is done as follows: UML started using: xterm -bg brown -e ./"Virtual Machine" ubd0=/gridiron/root_fs_Mars eth0=ethertap,tap2,fe:fd:0:0:0:2,192.168.1.3 On host with IP address 9.72.69.157 - /sbin/route add -net 192.168.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 gw 9.72.69.157 Inside UML: ifconfig eth0 192.168.14 up route add default gw 192.168.1.3 route del -net 192.168.1.0 dev eth0 netmask 255.255.255.0 route add -host 192.168.1.3 dev eth0 If I open a port inside UML, I am able to communicate to it, but the other way round is not working. Can anybody please shed some light on it? Thanks for your help in advance, Cheers, Ravi _______________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
