Well, in that case you had NO sharing (i.e. you were not using the partition
under UML, right)? Or were you using a COW on the partition?

However I agree that a dedicated partition for UML should be faster than a 
UBD, and faster than NFS; the strange thing is that NFS is faster than 
hostfs; this means that hostfs could be optimized a lot.

Has anyone tested this via a benchmark? There are quite a lot on Internet...
