I've looked at bridging before, but from what I understand, I can not then have asterix get it's IP address from DHCP (which may in any case be a problem if I want it to be a router between the LAN and virtual UML segments). The reason I want to have the virtual UML network on a separate subnet is to simulate realworld networks I deal with where one host acts as router between two subnets. I think the question is, can this be done with a tap interface and uml_switch? In the mean time, I'll play around with bridging to at least get a better understanding of networking UML instances.
