Hi, I play with UML for some time and I managed to set everything up and running OK, including networking. Nevertheless, there is still a nagging issue: I cannot setup the eth0 in the uml machine, in the case I have boot the uml as a *plain user*. More specifically, when I run 'ifconfig eth0 10.0.0.2 up' I get a: TUNSETIFF failed, errno = 1SIOCSIFFLAGS: Operation not permitted Otherwise, when I boot the uml machine as root, everything goes fine. I checked that indeed the /dev/net/tun has r/w permissions for all, and here is where my mind stopped creating new ideas... I would be grateful for any help. Another problem is that I haven't yet managed to boot a uml using DHCP, TFTP, etc. I can do this for any other linux system (e.g. built an appropriate kernel, etc.), but in the case of a uml I still cannot make it work. I bet it has to do with the boot options, but I haven't seen any *detailed* documentation about this. So the question is: Are there any pointers on this matter? Thanx in advance Tasos Kotaras INTRACOM S.A. |
