Hello, I wrote regarding this before: basically, when I attempt to create my = own filesystem, no matter if I am installing using Mandrake or Red Hat, = when it starts booting, it gets to almost the end of the booting = process, then hangs. Just to see if perhaps it was the hardware, I downloded a pre-built = RH7.2 "pristine server" image, as well as Mdk8.2 (from the UML site), = and they both booted perfectly. Jeff Dike had suggested that the script that was the culprit and causing = the hanging was the one the came after the last apparently successful = script, and I should put a '-x' in the "shebang" line to see what was = happening. Well, according to the "rankings" in the 'rc3.d' directory, = it appeared to be hanging on the 'rc.local' script, as that was the only = one left that seemed to be needing to be executed. Well, I ended up putting the '-x' in the "shebang" line of the "rc" and = "rc.sysinit" scripts, and these are the last few lines just before it = hangs (this is a RH7.3 UML filesystem): --- CUT HERE --- + action 'Starting sshd: ' /etc/rc3.d/S55sshd start + STRING=3DStarting sshd: + echo -n 'Starting sshd: ' Starting sshd: + shift + initlog -q -c '/etc/rc3.d/S55sshd start' + success 'Starting sshd: ' + '[' -z '' ']' + initlog -q -n /etc/rc.d/rc -s 'Starting sshd: ' -e 1 + '[' serial '!=3D' verbose -a -z '' ']' + echo_success + '[' serial =3D color ']' + echo -n '[ ' [ + '[' serial =3D color ']' + echo -n OK OK+ '[' serial =3D color ']' + echo -n ' ]' ]+ echo -ne '\r' + return 0 + return 0 + rc=3D0 + echo + return 0 --- CUT HERE --- I guess I need to figure out which script those commands belong to, and = go from there? I am really not understanding why one of the pre-built filesystems will = work fine, but one I create myself will not. I have tried creating = manually, as well as with 'umlbuilder', and same result both times. I would really like to get this working, or at the very least, is there = somewhere I could download a pre-build RH7.3 filesystem? TIA for any help and advice you are able to offer this poor soul :-) Alan Murrell <al...@zo...> |
